The day counter, also called a date-to-date calculator, is a convenient tool that allows you to quickly calculate the number of days between two dates with minimal effort. It’s perfect for situations like counting down to your birthday (we even have a dedicated birthday calculator 🎂) or checking how much time remains before an important deadline.
But that’s not all — this date duration calculator can also tell you what the calendar date will be after a specific number of days have passed. For example, if you’re beginning a 90-day fitness program, you can instantly find out the exact day it will finish.
How to Use the Days Calculator
There are three primary ways to use this date-to-date tool:
1. Unknown number of days between two dates
If you already know the starting and ending dates — such as the beginning and end of a vacation — simply enter both dates into the calculator to see how many days separate them. Just make sure the end date comes after the start date; time travel isn’t supported yet!
2. Unknown start date
Want to know what date it was 57 days ago? Enter the final date and the number of days that have passed, and the calculator will work backward for you.
3. Unknown end date
You can also find a future date by entering a starting date and the number of days you want to count forward. The calculator will show you exactly which day that will be.
How Many Days Are Between Two Dates?
Let’s say you’re working on a complex project. Today is July 14, and the deadline is September 27. Your manager wants a progress review 14 days before the final deadline.
This leads to two key questions:
- On which date will the progress review take place?
- How many days do you have to prepare for it?
To find the review date, subtract 14 days from September 27. By entering September 27 as the end date and 14 as the number of days, the calculator shows that the review will happen on September 13.
Next, calculate the number of days between July 14 and September 13. The result is 61 days — that’s how much time you have to work before the progress check.
If you’d like to double-check the calculation, the date duration calculator is there to confirm it. You can even find out how many business days fall between the two dates, giving you a clearer picture of how many actual workdays you have left.
